Distinguished Title I School Award - Colfax Upper Elementary School was honored as a Distinguished Title I school. Ninety-four schools in Pennsylvania have been given this award based on the following criteria: Staff members from Colfax Upper Elementary School were invited to the Pennsylvania Association Federal Program Coordinators "Improving School Performance Conference" to accept the award and complete a presentation on how the school has improved its assessment scores. |

aInformation Requesteda - The District is beginning to develop a calendar for the 2012-2013 school year. Administrators are looking for feedback from parents and students on the after Labor Day start that happened this year. If you are willing to provide some information, please click here to take a short survey. Your participation is very much appreciated.
Clerical Day - The Allegheny Valley School District has scheduled a Clerical Day for Friday, January 27. There will be no school for students on that day. Classes resume on Monday, January 30.
Elementary Nights - The Friday, January 27 Boys' Basketball game has been designated as an Elementary Night. Elementary students (grades K-6) who wear orange and black will be admitted to the games free of charge.
Meeting Canceled - The Parent Information Session scheduled for Thursday, January 26 has been canceled. The meeting will be rescheduled and advertised as soon as a new date is known.
Prom Fashion Show - Springdale Jr-Sr High School's annual Prom Fashion Show will take place on Sunday, February 12 beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Marshall Auditorium. Tickets are $7.00 and can be purchased from a Junior Class Officer or at the door. All proceeds go to the Prom Committee.
Congratulations - Congratulations to Miliana Yaksich, Maria Lucas, Alex Conte, Ed Opalko, and Max Shaginaw for winning "Best Fire Protection System" at this year's Future City Competition.
Nomination Period Extended - The Allegheny Valley School District has extended the nomination period for its Alumni Hall of Fame Program. Any individual who has attended the District, graduated more than 10 years ago, and has "distinguished themselves through public service, academic achievement, and professional contributions, which serve to enhance the prestige and excellence" of the School District is eligible.
